Project “Wishbone”

Wishbone – key image. This will be the last plate printed.

It’s that time of year again and I’ve been applying for some summer shows and also some solo exhibit opportunities. My goal for the year is to focus on more of those venues and scale back on the summer shows. The galleries that represent my work are also wanting to get some new pieces on their walls now that spring is just around the corner.

I can’t wait for spring! It shows its sunny face once in a while and then a few snowflakes appear again.

My creativity has been kind of quiet lately, but I’m finally starting to get a lot of ideas flowing again. I have a few new pieces started. I’m calling this one “Wishbone”.

This piece will be printed in bright yellows, reds, and a dark brown. Of course things may change as it progresses.

I’ll use this plate as a reduction for the layered colors.

The texture in the background was applied with a plate brushed with glue. Once dry I use is like a regular plate. I didn’t get a picture of that. I love the soft tones that the glue creates. The flesh tones were then applied.

The third color is this vibrant yellow, which I LOVE!

It’s hard to see in this photo, but the yellow is a little transparent so the layers beneath show through.Stay tuned for more updates…
