Oconomowoc Art Festival

I’ve been a little slow reporting back about my show last weekend in Oconomowoc, WI. It was a lovely show, great weather (that doesn’t happen often), and the art festival committee and volunteers were very attentive. My sister came to stay with me for the weekend (girls weekend). Oconomowoc is a lake town with some very expensive homes; that being said I did expect more sales, but I think the majority of the community is very conservative. One complaint that I have would be the entertainment. It really sounded like probably just had volunteers up there singing and playing instruments. I was glad my booth wasn’t near them! Sunday afternoon a guy and girl show up behind my booth with a banjo, guitar, saw, washboard and some other strange objects. My sister and I look at each other and it’s an OMG moment. What kind of noise are we going to hear now! It was actually VERY entertaining. They were really good! Drew quite a crowd!

One of the highlights of the weekend was the artists party Saturday night. One of the shows patrons offered their lakefront home to us as a venue and the festival brought in wine, beer, pop, and feed us a really nice dinner. It was so pleasant just sitting out on their dock and enjoying the water.

Here’s some pictures from the party.

  • Great to meet you, Lori, and see your work on at this art fair! Awesome work — love the distinctive block cut look, and you have a wonderful sense of design that makes it a standout. I will try to spread the word within the illustration markets here — just don’t take too much work away from me! –Ron Finger, Brainerd MN

    • Nice to meet you too Ron and thank you for the compliments. It means a lot to me coming from a fellow artist!
